Shin'ichi Yūki (March 6, 1916 - October 26, 1984) was a Japanese novelist born in Tokyo. After graduating from Waseda University, he began his writing career with the debut work 'Akimasari' in 1948. Despite being a reserved and less prolific author, he published around two short stories annually. His recognition soared in 1980 when he won the Japan Literature Prize for 'Sora no Hosomichi,' which depicted the relationship between an elderly man and a young girl. Posthumously, his collected works were published in 2000, edited by notable figures. His son is the anthologist and essayist Shin'ichi Yūki.
