Shigeru Kimura was a Japanese science journalist, born on October 17, 1932, in Kumamoto City. He graduated from Kumamoto High School and completed his studies in the History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Tokyo in 1955. Kimura started his career at the Asahi Shimbun, where he worked as a reporter in Mito and later in the science department, becoming its chief in 1970. He was also a resident researcher at the Wilson Center in the United States in 1981 and served as an executive director for satellite channels.
