Shasheendra Kumara Rajapaksa is a Sri Lankan politician serving as a Member of Parliament for Monaragala District. He has held prominent roles including State Minister of Paddy and Cereals and Chief Minister of Uva Province from 2009 to 2015. Rajapaksa is the eldest son of Chamal Rajapaksa and a nephew of former Presidents Mahinda and Gotabaya Rajapaksa. His political career saw a significant setback in 2015 when he lost the Chief Minister position to UNP leader Harin Fernando following defections from his party.
