Shaotang Liu (February 29, 1936 – March 12, 1997) was a Chinese writer associated with the literary movement 'Lotus Lake'. He was born in Jilin Village, Hebei Province, which at the time was under a pro-Japanese regime. Liu began his literary career in 1949 and joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1953, becoming a member of the Chinese Writers' Association in 1956. He promoted local literature using a bucolic style, with notable works including 'Weak Family', 'Flower Street', and 'Young Moon'. His works have been translated into multiple languages.
