Serīq Qirabaev was a renowned Soviet and Kazakh literary scholar and critic, born on March 23, 1927, in the Atyrau village of Kazakhstan. He earned a Doctorate in Philological Sciences in 1964 and became a professor in 1966. He was an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan since 1994 and a corresponding member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR starting in 1968. Qirabaev was honored as a Distinguished Figure of Science in Kazakhstan in 2005 and received several prestigious awards throughout his career. He passed away on October 26, 2021.
