He played a crucial role in establishing blood transfusion services and was recognized with numerous awards, including the USSR Council of Ministers Prize in 1986 and the Presidential Medal for Services to the Fatherland in 2006. He passed away on August 15, 2010, in Moscow and is buried at Troyekurovskoye Cemetery.
