Seppo Juhani Arponen (1943-2024) was a Finnish industrial counselor and former business director of Finnvera Oyj. He also served as the chairman of the ice hockey club Oulun Kärpät. In the 1970s, Arponen worked as a peacekeeper, experiencing two wars and a coup. He became the chairman of Kärpät in 1995 after the club faced bankruptcy. Under his leadership, Kärpät ascended to the SM-liiga and won four gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze between 2003 and 2009. Arponen passed away in 2024 after battling a serious illness.
