Seizō Okada (1913-1994) was a Japanese novelist born in Osaka. He worked as a journalist for the Asahi Shimbun and drew from his experiences during World War II to write short stories, including the award-winning 'New Guinea Mountain War'. After retirement, he focused on creative writing and published bestsellers such as 'After Retirement', which was adapted into a TV drama. Okada had a lifelong friendship with author Ryōtarō Shiba and was the son of the notable merchant and scholar Hanyō Okada, who wrote social theories and novels.
