James Scott Mayer is the fifth Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas, elected in 2008. He previously served as Rector of the Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene, Texas. Mayer was consecrated as Bishop on March 21, 2009, following his election via an electing convention. He has played a key role in the Episcopal Church's mission within his diocese.
