Scott Manning was a Canadian aerobatic pilot known for flying the BD-5J, the world's smallest jet. Born on May 15, 1958, he initially pursued a career in professional football after studying environmental studies at the University of Waterloo. A serious knee injury halted his football ambitions but led him to aviation. After extensive recovery, he built his own BD-5J Microjet, becoming a prominent figure in the airshow scene. Tragically, he lost his life in an accident on June 16, 2006, during practice for the Ottawa Air Show.
