He played two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL after being drafted in the fifth round of the 1986 NFL draft. He played college football at Northern Illinois University and attended Lake Park High School in Roselle, Illinois. In addition to the Colts, Kellar was part of teams such as the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Ottawa Rough Riders.
