Savva Ivanovitš Tarasov was a Yakut writer, poet, and translator born on April 25, 1934, in the Gorny District of the Yakut ASSR. He began his literary career in the 1950s, publishing his first poetry collection in 1961 and went on to write around twenty books in Yakut and Russian. He translated works including Shakespeare's 'Macbeth', 'Hamlet', and 'King Lear', as well as Euripides' 'Medea'. Tarasov became a member of the Union of Soviet Writers in 1964 and served as the chairman of the Writers' Union of the Sakha Republic from 1993 to 1998.
