Satish Chandra Kakati was an influential Indian journalist and writer, recognized for his role as the editor of The Assam Tribune, an English-language daily in Assam. He co-founded Assam Bani, a vernacular weekly, in 1955. Kakati served as the vice president of the Editors' Guild of India, authored seven books in Assamese and English, and received several accolades, including the Kanaklata Barua and Mukunda Kakati Memorial Award in 2005 and the prestigious Padma Shri in 1991 from the Government of India.
