Her second novel 'Kieuw' won multiple nominations and the Accolade for Best Youth Book. Maaskant's third novel 'Dromer' won 'De Kleine Cervantes' in 2018. In 2020, she published her first historical novel 'Meerminnen verdrinken niet', which addresses the 1911 storm disaster. Diagnosed with Hodgkin's in 2021, she shares her journey as a cancer survivor online.
