Sasaki Kōzō was a prominent Japanese art historian born on July 1, 1928, in Kyoto. He graduated from Waseda University's Faculty of Letters in 1951 and served as an official at the Kyoto National Museum in 1952. His academic career at Waseda included roles as an assistant professor and later as a full professor until his retirement in 1998, after which he became a professor emeritus. He is known for his contributions to the field of art history in Japan. He passed away on May 26, 2002.
