Sarah Catherine Sharples is a British chartered ergonomist and academic, born in 1972. She specializes in human factors and ergonomics and has been a Professor of Human Factors at the University of Nottingham since 2012. Additionally, she serves as the chief scientific adviser for the Department for Transport, a position she has held since 2021. Her academic career has been entirely at the University of Nottingham, where she also held the role of pro-vice-chancellor for equality, diversity, and inclusion from 2018 to 2021.
