She graduated from the University of East Anglia in 1974 and obtained her PhD in 1978, focusing on Hurricanes and Climate Change. Raper co-authored the MAGICC model, which predicts global temperature and sea-level changes based on greenhouse gas emissions. This model is instrumental in IPCC reports and Integrated Assessment Models. Raper also contributed as a lead author to the IPCC's Third and Fourth Assessment Reports and has an h-index of 57 according to Google Scholar.
