He achieved notable success by winning a silver medal in the mixed team event at the 2003 FIL World Luge Championships held in Sigulda, Latvia. Additionally, Bērziņš represented Latvia in two Winter Olympic Games, with his best result being a tenth-place finish in the men's doubles event at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
