Salvador Aulèstia i Vàzquez was a Catalan sculptor, painter, draftsman, and writer born in Barcelona on November 13, 1915. He developed a plastic expressionism with tendencies toward abstraction, influencing his work through figurative and surreal abstraction, fauvism, post-cubism, and expressionism. Eventually, he established his own style known as apotelesmatic art, which he outlined in the 'Manifesto of Apotelesmatic Art' in 1963. He passed away in Milan in June 1994.
