Salme Sarajas-Korte was a Finnish art historian, born on April 21, 1925, in Loppi, and passed away on March 11, 2017, in Helsinki. She held the title of professor and became Ateneum Art Museum's first curator in 1955. After earning her master's degree in 1949 and studying in France for a year, she completed her doctoral thesis on early Finnish symbolism in 1966. Sarajas-Korte led the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts' exhibition and information department from 1967 to 1983 and contributed significantly to art literature, including a comprehensive work published in 1984-1990.
