Memecan's editorial cartoons have reached a global audience, being published in major outlets like The New York Times and The Washington Post. He holds both BA and MA degrees in architecture from the Middle East Technical University and a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2010, he became the chairman of the Turkish Media Association.
