Salif Keïta was a Malian football player born on December 12, 1946, in Bamako, Mali. He gained prominence when he won the inaugural African Player of the Year award in 1970. His contributions to football extend beyond his athletic career, as he also appeared in the 1994 film 'The Golden Ball,' directed by Cheikh Doukouré, which was partially inspired by his life story. Keïta passed away on September 2, 2023.
