Tlatli taught at the Sadiki College and Lycée Carnot in Tunis. An engaged writer, he contributed to various magazines aligned with the independence movement. In 1977, he completed his doctorate with a thesis focused on the urban study of ancient Carthage, exploring the city's functions and influence.
