Sabri Tata was a Bulgarian Turkish writer born on October 20, 1925, in Torlak (Tsar Kaloyan), Razgrad, Bulgaria. He published several books in Turkish in Bulgaria. During the name-changing campaign against Turks, he suffered from Angina Pectoris and sought refuge in Turkey like many Bulgarian Turkish intellectuals. In Turkey, he published historical novels including 'İlk Gözağrısı' and 'Kurtbayır'ın Sırrı', as well as 'Tuna'nın Peri Güzeli' (a two-volume series). He passed away on August 20, 2010, in Güngören, Istanbul.
