Sabine also had an older brother, Klaus Bonhoeffer, who was involved in the resistance against the Nazi regime and was associated with the group that attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944. Sabine passed away on July 7, 1999, in Göttingen, leaving behind a legacy tied to her family's notable contributions to German history.
