Saamund Gjersund is a Norwegian agronomist and local politician born on March 7, 1955, in Morgedal, Kviteseid. He served as the mayor of Fyresdal municipality from 1999 to 2007, representing a local list and taking office after the 1999 election. During his term, he was notable for being the only mayor in Telemark without party affiliation. Gjersund initiated efforts to reverse the trend of emigration from Fyresdal, including inviting people from the Netherlands to settle in the area. He holds a degree in civil agronomy.
