S. K. Gurunathan (1908–1966) was a prominent sports journalist and a pioneer in cricket statistics in India. He began his career at The Hindu and became its sports editor from 1958 until his death. He established the Madras Sports Annual and the magazine Sport and Pastime. Serving as the first Honorary Cricket Statistician for the BCCI, he edited the Indian Cricket publication and contributed to Wisden. Gurunathan also played as a stylish wicket keeper in his youth. He died shortly before his retirement from The Hindu.
