Ruth Simpson (March 15, 1926 – May 8, 2008) was an influential figure in the LGBTQ+ community, being the founder of the first lesbian community center in the United States, an author, and the leader of the Daughters of Bilitis in New York. Her notable work includes the book 'From the Closet to the Courts' published in 1977, with a re-release in 2007. Additionally, she produced a weekly one-hour program called 'Minority Report' in Woodstock, New York from 1982 until her passing in 2008.
