Rubens Soares was a Brazilian composer born in Rio de Janeiro on May 29, 1911. He also had a career as a middleweight boxer from 1928 to 1945. His first notable success as a composer came with the song 'É bom parar', reportedly co-written with Noel Rosa. This composition was recorded by Francisco Alves in 1936. Throughout his career, Rubens' works were recorded by several artists, including Aracy de Almeida, Nelson Gonçalves, Sílvio Caldas, Déo, and Carlos Galhardo.
