Roy Albert Crowson was a British biologist born on November 22, 1914, and known for his specialization in the taxonomy of beetles. He led the zoology department at the University of Glasgow starting in 1949. Crowson collected beetles and their larvae worldwide and examined their relationships. His 1955 monograph, 'The natural classification of the families of Coleoptera', established a classification system for beetles still in use today. His beetle collection is housed in the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery in Glasgow and the Natural History Museum in London. The beetle family Crowsonellidae is named in his honor.
