Rose Zehner, born Rose Francine Goderel on April 8, 1901, in Paris, was a prominent trade union activist and communist. She became notable for her passionate speeches during the 1938 strikes at Citroën, which were captured in a photograph by Willy Ronis. Orphaned at nine, she worked from a young age and opened a bar after losing her job due to her activism. Her life and contributions were rediscovered in the 1980s, especially through the publication of Ronis's photography and her participation in the Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles in 1983.
