Rosa Calzecchi Onesti was an Italian translator, professor, Hellenist, and Latinist, born on May 17, 1916, in Milan and died on August 7, 2011. She is best known for her rhythmic prose translations of ancient Greek and Latin works, including Homer's 'Iliad' (1950) and 'Odyssey' (1963), both published by Einaudi. Additionally, she translated Virgil's 'Aeneid' and many other ancient texts, contributing significantly to the field of classical literature.
