He co-founded the Magenta Foundation in 1992, responding to violence against asylum seekers in Germany. Eissens was actively involved in internet activism against discrimination and worked in website hosting. His tenure at MDI was contentious, facing accusations of bias in handling discrimination cases, particularly regarding antisemitism.
