Roland Meyer de Voltaire, born on September 8, 1978, in Bonn, is a German singer, songwriter, composer, and music producer. From 2003 to 2011, he was the lead vocalist, lyricist, and composer for his indie rock band, Voltaire, which he founded. Since 2015, he has been performing under the project and artist name SCHWARZ. In 2020, a documentary series titled 'Wie ein Fremder – Eine deutsche Popmusik-Geschichte' was released, chronicling his life from 2014 to 2020 and observing his personal and artistic development.
