Roberto Barbon, nicknamed 'Chico', was a Cuban-born Japanese baseball second baseman who made history as the first Latin American player in Nippon Professional Baseball. He was born on March 13, 1933, and had a significant playing career mainly with the Hankyu Braves from 1955 to 1964, and finished his career with the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 1965. He passed away on January 12, 2023.
