Robert Tappan Morris, born on November 8, 1965, is an American entrepreneur and computer scientist. He is best known for creating the Morris worm in 1988, which is considered the first internet worm. He was prosecuted for launching the worm and became the first person convicted under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Morris co-founded the company Y Combinator with Paul Graham and later joined the faculty of the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department at MIT, achieving tenure in 2006.
