Robert George Reisner was an American art historian and jazz author, born on January 18, 1921, and died on February 1, 1974. He is renowned for writing the first biography of jazz legend Charlie Parker based on numerous interviews. A professor of art history at the New School for Social Research, Reisner was also a passionate jazz fan and organized jam sessions featuring Parker. In the late 1960s, he was a pioneer in graffiti research and published several works related to both jazz and visual arts.
