Robert E. M. Hedges is a British archaeologist born in 1944. He studied and earned his PhD at the University of Cambridge. From 1994, he served as a lecturer and later a professor of archaeology at the University of Oxford, where he is a fellow of St Cross College. He received the Royal Medal from the Royal Society in 2008 for his contributions to the techniques of radiocarbon dating in archaeology using accelerator mass spectrometry. His research includes early grain cultivation in the Near East.
