Rita Martinez (October 28, 1955 – December 10, 2020) was a Chicana activist in Pueblo, Colorado, known for her opposition to the observance of Columbus Day in the state. Her activism contributed to the passing of a law by Governor Jared Polis in 2020 to abolish Columbus Day. In recognition of her grassroots efforts and community support, she was honored as a Corn Mother in 2019. Martinez's work focused on promoting awareness and social justice within her community.
