He completed his PhD at University College London in 1981 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard University. He has been associated with the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology and was a director at Cancer Research UK. His research focuses on cell signaling pathways and he discovered the Serum Response Factor (SRF). Treisman has received numerous accolades, including fellowships and the Gold Medal from the European Molecular Biology Organization.
