Richard Calandra was an American drummer and music producer who significantly contributed to the music scene in Buffalo. He started his career drumming for a local band named (The) Posse, which played a mix of funk, country, blues, rock, and gospel. In 1976, he began producing music with Jay Beckenstein for the emerging band Spyro Gyra. He produced Spyro Gyra's first studio album and continued until his death in 1986. His legacy includes a Grammy Award and the induction of Posse into the Buffalo Hall of Fame.
