Ren Ziwei is a Chinese short track speed skater born on June 3, 1997, in Harbin. He won the gold medal in the 1000 meters at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, a victory that was controversial due to a disqualification of Hungary's Shaolin Sandor Liu. Ren also secured a second gold in the mixed relay event at the same Olympics. Previously, he earned a silver medal in the 5000 meters relay at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. Additionally, he has one silver and one bronze from the World Championships and has won five individual races in the World Cup.
