Reet Vääri is a former Estonian rower and a university lecturer at the University of Tartu. She graduated from Vändra Secondary School and earned her degree in philology from Tartu State University in 1966. In 1993, she obtained a master's in pedagogy. Since 2005, she has been the head of the Estonian Language Protection Association. Vääri was previously married to Eduard Vääri.
