Raymundo Pérez y Soto was a Mexican musician, composer, and singer born in Orizaba, Veracruz, on March 15, 1908. Although he studied law, he did not practice it. He began performing in 1935 at XEW in Mexico City and formed the duo Ray y Lupita with Laura Rivas, touring extensively in the U.S., Spain, and South America. He authored over a hundred songs, including some in Nahuatl, notable ones being 'El rosario de mi madre' and 'Mexicano hasta las cachas.' His work has been performed by various artists.
