Ray Starling was a British jazz musician, composer, and arranger, active in the United States. Born on January 4, 1933, in London, he played the trumpet, mellophone, and piano. In the late 1950s, he performed as a duo with his wife, Jo Lea. He worked with notable figures like Stan Kenton and Buddy Rich, contributing significantly to jazz music. After leaving the Kenton orchestra, he and Jo Lea started a vocal group called The Starlings. He passed away at the age of 49 on May 15, 1982, from cancer.
