Rajagopala Chidambaram is an esteemed Indian physicist, born on November 11, 1936. He significantly contributed to India's nuclear weapons program, coordinating test preparations for Pokhran-I in 1975 and Pokhran-II in 1998. He served as the principal scientific adviser to the Government of India and as director of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). Chidambaram was also the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and was actively involved in ensuring India’s national defense and energy security. He chaired the IAEA's board of governors from 1994 to 1995 and participated in key international nuclear discussions.
