Raissa Smilis (1932-2011) was a Canadian photographer of Macedonian-British descent, known for her powerful images that gave voice to marginalized communities. A co-founder of the women's photographic collective Format Photographers, established in 1983, her work was recognized by The Guardian for highlighting social issues. Smilis was briefly married to Fluxus artist Robin Page, with whom she had a daughter.
