Raimund Girke was a German minimalist painter known for his monochromatic series of artworks created from 1958 onwards, influenced by informal art. His notable white paintings evolved in 1963 to become finer and more muted, introducing outlines of circles and squares in 1964. He was born on October 28, 1930, in Heinzendorf and passed away on June 12, 2002, in Cologne. Girke became a professor at the Berlin Academy of Arts in 1971.
