Raymond Veveysan Vernède (1905-2003) was an English colonial administrator in India and an author, educated at Bradfield College and Hertford College, Oxford. He served in the Indian Civil Service from 1928 to 1947. Vernède was married to Nancy Mary Kendall and later became Bursar of St Peter's College, Oxford. His literary works include 'The Enchanted Loom', a historical novel, and 'The Collector's Bag', a collection of stories, along with editing 'British Life in India', an anthology published in 1995.
