R. K. Shekhar, born Rajagopala Kulashekharan on June 21, 1933, was an Indian music composer prominent in Malayalam cinema. He composed music for 52 films, contributing 127 songs, and served as a music conductor for over 100 films. His notable debut song, 'Chotta Muthal Chudala Vare', was a hit for the movie Pazhassi Raja in 1964. He is the father of renowned composers A. R. Rahman and A. R. Reihana and the grandfather of music producers G. V. Prakash Kumar and A. R. Ameen.
